Former LI president Lord John Alderdice visits Canada to receive honorary degree.
He visited on June of 2017 to receive an honorary LLD from Queen’s University (Kingston Ontario) for his achievements in the peace process in Ireland, and his work with indigenous people in the Canadian arctic as well as his work in Liberal International. He is a President of Honour (past president) of LI and very active on all continents. On this trip he conversed with a wide range of people,in three cities, interested in Liberal International.

While in Toronto a large group of people attended his talk at an event organized by CGLI at Massey College, convened by Lorna Marsden and chaired by Bill Graham. In Kingston he held three seminars, one for students and professors, one for the general public and one for professors in related fields. After receiving his degree he journeyed to Ottawa where he was well received at a parliamentary meeting assembled by Senator Art Eggleton.

It is titled ‘The Strongmen Strike Back’ and is written by Robert Kagan , a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution who is also the author of a new book titled ‘The Jungle Grows Back’.It describes the issues and threats faced by liberals and liberal democracy.
